Marilyn, while finishing up this latest bit of travel, I was thinking back to my Madison visit and wanted to thank you again in a way that didn’t involve beer. So I wrote you a little poem (below)! It is obviously the work of an amateur, but was fun to attempt, and is possibly worthy of being read once or twice.

HOME COURT
If you make it to Madison, Wisconsin,
go to Shorewood Hills
and ask for Marilyn Krichko.
She will invite you in
and feed you
and give you a room.
If you ask,
she will tell you the story
of how, forty years ago,
the Australian Harry Hopman
accepted her, sight unseen,
into his tennis academy in Largo, Florida,
his adopted hometown.
