An unedited transcript of a customer-service chat…

Lewis F (7/19/2023, 4:46:47 PM): All technical support chats may be recorded for quality assurance and training purposes. Thank you for contacting CenturyLink.

You are speaking with Lewis, please give me a moment to review the information you provided.
Lewis F (7/19/2023, 4:48:12 PM): Hello, thank you for chatting with CenturyLink. This is Lewis. I see you are reporting a downed line, is that correct?
Gregory Crowther (7/19/2023, 4:48:20 PM): Yes
Gregory Crowther (7/19/2023, 4:48:51 PM): It’s not exactly down all the way, but hanging dangerously low across the street at [street address].
Gregory Crowther (7/19/2023, 4:49:09 PM): My wife reported it yesterday but it’s still low and was just hit again.
Lewis F (7/19/2023, 4:49:35 PM): Okay, I can certainly see what we can do. One moment please
Lewis F (7/19/2023, 4:51:24 PM): Is this the line going to your home?
Gregory Crowther (7/19/2023, 4:51:32 PM): Yes
Lewis F (7/19/2023, 4:52:11 PM): Thank you for confirming that , just a few more moments
Lewis F (7/19/2023, 4:57:46 PM): The earliest I can schedule a dispatch for a tech to come out and fix that line is Tue, Jul 25th 2023 between 0815am and 0415pm
Gregory Crowther (7/19/2023, 4:58:38 PM): Do you understand that this line is currently a danger to any and all tall trucks that drive down this street?
Lewis F (7/19/2023, 4:59:21 PM): I do completely understand, I do have it noted as such and it is marked as urgent
Gregory Crowther (7/19/2023, 4:59:59 PM): OK. But Tuesday the 25th does not sound like a response to something urgent. Is there a “double urgent” category that we can use?
Lewis F (7/19/2023, 5:01:05 PM): Unfortunately that is the earliest I can schedule the dispatch for
Gregory Crowther (7/19/2023, 5:02:34 PM): OK. Let’s hope that, in the meantime, there are no accidents that result in property damage or lawsuits.
Lewis F (7/19/2023, 5:02:44 PM): Would you be able to provide me with a good contact name and phone number?
Gregory Crowther (7/19/2023, 5:02:58 PM): I do not in any way mean this as a threat. We do not want to sue CenturyLink!
Gregory Crowther (7/19/2023, 5:03:37 PM): But letting this dangerous situation sit for 5 days might be considered neglectful, if something bad results.
Gregory Crowther (7/19/2023, 5:04:26 PM): My name and number are fine. Greg Crowther, [phone number]. Yesterday you (CenturyLink) talked to my wife, Leila Zelnick, [phone number].
Lewis F (7/19/2023, 5:05:20 PM): Thank you for that information. I have the dispatch all set and if anything sooner becomes available the tech will reach out and get there as soon as they can
Gregory Crowther (7/19/2023, 5:05:28 PM): OK, thanks.
Gregory Crowther (7/19/2023, 5:06:00 PM): So I guess we’re done?
Lewis F (7/19/2023, 5:06:26 PM): Is there anything else I may be able to assist you with?
Gregory Crowther (7/19/2023, 5:06:47 PM): Nope, just the dangerous line hanging down in the middle of the street. That’s all!
Lewis F (7/19/2023, 5:08:04 PM): I appreciate the opportunity to help you today. At the end of our chat session, you will be asked to provide feedback about your experience today. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day and thank you for chatting with CenturyLink

Is that phone or cable (vs. electrical)? It would make a difference in the hazard, methinks.

You’re right, this is not a high -current line. I think the biggest danger is if that if it snags on a truck, the truck might spin out of control and inflict and receive some physical (not electrical) !damage.
