Confessions of a bad parent
June 9, 2011We were all in the car this evening when Phil’s mom reported that Phil had hit a fellow student at preschool that day.
“He was going to hit me, I knowed,” Phil protested. “HIS HAND WAS UP.”
I wanted to admonish him sternly, but I couldn’t because I was gagging on my own laughter. I just couldn’t get past the rhetorical flourish of “HIS HAND WAS UP.”
Of course Phil laughed right along with me. I’m afraid that the lesson learned, if any, was, “It’s OK to clobber another kid as long as you have a funny reason for doing it.”
